Hearty Tuna Pie

Ingredients

- 1/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup herb seasoned stuffing mix
- 2 cups herb seasoned stuffing mix
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained & flaked
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon chicken base
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons onions, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 1 teaspoon dill weed
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 cups fresh tomatoes, cubed & seeded or 2 cups canned tomatoes, chunks well drained
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 350.
- 2 in a 3 quart saucepan melt 1/4 cup butter. stir in 3/4 cup dry stuffing mix well & press onto bottom & up the sides of a greased 9′ pie pan. set aside.
- 3 in the same saucepan stir together all filling ingredients; spoon over crust. bake at 350 for for 50-55 minutes or till heated through.
- 4 let stand out of oven for 10 minutes.
- 5 meanwhile in 2 quart saucepan, melt 1/3 cup butter. mix together cornstarch and water before adding to the melted butter.
- 6 stir in remaining sauce ingredients except tomatoes.
- 7 cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally till mixture comes to a full boil (5-7 minutes). add well drained & seeded tomatoes; simmer for 1 minute. to serve cut pie in wedges an then poor sauce over wedges.
