Libbie's Creamed Spiced Chicken

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 lbs chicken, cut up
  • 1 cup onion
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 whole allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup sour cream

Recipe

  • 1 put chicken in dutch oven with enough water to cover chicken.
  • 2 add onion and salt.
  • 3 tie up mustard cloves allspice in muslin bag (bouquet garni) when chicken is tender and there is about 2 1/2 cups liquid left take out the bag and take the flour and milk make a smooth paste pour this on the chicken and bring back to a boil to thicken.
  • 4 when thick, add sour cream, but don't boil again. it is good served on baked potatoes.
