Hedgiehog's Chicken Tikka Masala

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste (can be bought at most indian shops or made at home)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 -3 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 -3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cream
  • chopped cilantro (to garnish)

Recipe

  • 1 rinse the chicken, pat dry and cut into bite size pieces.
  • 2 begin making the marinade:.
  • 3 combine all marinade ingredients and coat the chicken with it. leave in refrigerator for several hours or preferably overnight.
  • 4 cook the chicken either on a grill or under broiler.
  • 5 for the sauce:.
  • 6 on medium heat , cook the onions in melted ghee or butter.
  • 7 after a few minutes, add in garlic and chilies.
  • 8 add in all the spices and brown sugar.
  • 9 stir in chicken and tomato sauce.
