Pecan-sage Dressing

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 (1 lb) stale bread
  • 3 cups chopped onions
  • 4 cups celery
  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup ground pecans (or coarsely chopped)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 3 1/2 cups hot chicken broth or 3 1/2 cups turkey broth

Recipe

  • 1 place several slices of bread in electric processor or blender.
  • 2 process until finely crumbled.
  • 3 repeat until all bread is crumbled.
  • 4 sauté onion and celery in butter until tender.
  • 5 place in a large mixing bowl.
  • 6 add crumbs and remaining ingredients; mix well.
  • 7 spoon into well greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  • 8 bake at 325°f for 40-45 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
